Norman Food and Shelter plans to give out free Thanksgiving Day meals

Norman Food and Shelter is expecting about 1,000 guests at their annual Thanksgiving Day meal.

This feast will be free to anyone in the community who might be in need. But, with Thanksgiving just three weeks away, they’re still in need of volunteers.

“So Food and Shelter really relies heavily on volunteers,” said Norman Food and Shelter Executive Director April Heiple. “It takes hundreds of volunteers to come out and make this event possible. It takes hundreds of volunteers to show up early to cook and prepare the meal. But, we also need people who want to deliver meals out to senior citizens and people of disabilities.”

The meal will take place at Norman High starting at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and if you can’t volunteer, they’re also looking for donations.
