The Red Cross is asking for blood donations due to the latest COVID-19 surge depleting their supply. The Red Cross says its national inventory is the lowest it’s been at this time of year since 2015. For some blood types, there is even less than a day’s supply left.
They estimate that they will need to collect around 10,000 additional units each week for a month to make up for the shortage. While the Red Cross desperately needs all blood types, they are needing O negative blood the most.
