Parents of high schoolers are gathering at Norman High in support of the safety and well-being of Norman Public School students, teachers, staff and families.
90 Norman High faculty and staff members sent a letter Friday to the Norman Public School District administration expressing their concerns and policies they would like to see before returning back to school because of the spike in new COVID-19 cases in Norman,
On Monday school administrators suspended in-person classes and until further notice all instruction will be online.
The latest new positive case report showed Norman High School with one teacher and 14 students testing positive for COVID-19 with 18 faculty members and 98 students in quarantine.
Before returning to in-person classes, faculty members want to see the district provide “enhanced sanitizing” materials and protocols, daily communication with parents and staff regarding positive cases, an effective way to perform contact tracing and more.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. the crowd will continue to march together to the administration building in time for the Norman Public School Board of Education meeting at 6:00 p.m.
