Former Fort Worth police officer charged with murder for killing woman in her own home

Former Fort Worth police officer, Aaron Dean, was arrested and charged with murder today after fatally shooting Atatiana Jefferson in her home Saturday morning.

The officer is being held on a $200,000 bond in The Tarrant County Jail.

Dean has resigned and been stripped of his badge and firearm, but the Fort Worth Police Department said he would have been fired for several policy violations, including the department’s use of force and de-escalation policies, and unprofessional conduct.

This is the 9th police shooting this year involving Fort Worth police.
