Walmart says it will no longer sell handgun ammunition and is asking customers not to openly carry firearms in its stores, even if open carry is legal in the state.
The announcement comes after recent deadly shootings over the weekend in Midland-Odessa, Texas, and a shooting last month inside a Walmart in El Paso.
Walmart says it will reduce its market share of ammunition from 20% to 9% or less. It will also stop selling ammunition used in military style weapons. The retail giant says it will concentrate on serving customers with hunting rifles.
