Labor Day just around the corner and police say many will begin celebrating as early Friday.
For the third year now, Norman Police Department is taking action against impaired driving with Operation Cadence.
In 2013, a driver under the influence struck and killed eight year old, Cadence Gordon.
Lieutenant Jeff Robertson, a close friend of the Gordon family, uses Operation Cadence to emphasize the greater meaning behind traffic enforcement.
“What better way to give officers a mission and a purpose behind doing traffic enforcement and enforcing impaired driving than if you’ve got a wonderful 8-year-old to honor,” said Lieutenant Robertson.
A DUI checkpoint will be enforced starting Friday night and the location will not be disclosed to the public.
