Yesterday at President Gallogly’s press conference, a reference was made towards a third subject who was involved in the racist video that surfaced on social media last week. Earlier today at the Rally to Stop Racism held in the Oklahoma Memorial Union, reactions from all across campus came pouring into the rally, including students and faculty. A student stepped forward and was later identified as Mikey De Guzman, the suspected third person in the video. Around 4:00 pm this afternoon, prior seconds to the already released video were released on Twitter.
The original video and the video that surfaced earlier today with the prior seconds can be seen below:
The video was filmed at the two-former university student’s apartment and was off campus. Despite how it appears in the video, De Guzman claims he was trying to wipe the paint from Olivia Urban’s face and the racial slur portion of the video was posted after he had left the apartment.
De Guzman attended the rally to show support for the groups who were affected by the video’s negative impacts. He tried to speak up on his own behalf but was stopped by an administrative organizer of the rally, realizing that it was not the right time to share his story.
