Amazon Target of Protests for Cyber Monday

For the shoppers who would rather stay in and get their shopping deals online, today is Cyber Monday.

Cyber Monday 2018 is expected to be the largest online shopping day in history. Today’s sales are estimated to reach $7.8 billion.

If achieved, this number would top Black Friday sales, which reached $6.2 billion.

While some people may be scouring Amazon for Cyber Monday deals, others are using today as a chance to express their frustration with the company.

Protestors gathered at an Amazon store in New York to oppose the new headquarters being built in Long Island City.

Another protest is taking place Monday evening in Queens. The protest’s Facebook event says, “The heartbeat of Queens is the working class and immigrants, not billionaires.”

Protestors are also concerned Amazon’s presence in the area will displace existing residents.
