OU Partnership With GeoCarb

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine stopped by the University of Oklahoma today to talk about NASA’s future in earth and space sciences.

He also discussed GeoCarb, an earth science space mission in partnership with OU that will research earth’s carbon cycle.

Bridenstine believes the research GeoCarb is doing could be instrumental in the understanding of how our planet works.

“And that’s what Geo-Carb is all about. It’s determining within a column of atmosphere … how much methane is there, how much carbon dioxide, how much carbon monoxide… And then we can make determinations about how this is going to affect climate, how it’s going to affect weather, how it’s going to affect ecosystems.”

The program expects to launch in June of 2022.
