The flu season has taken off in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Health department starts tracking flu on September 1st each year.
Oklahoma is one of nine states with reported flu cases. So far, 27 Oklahomans have been hospitalized with the flu this season.
Doctors say the time to get a flu shot is now. Most doctors offices and pharmacies offer it at no charge to those with insurance.
For those uninsured, check with the County Health department. On the OU campus, Goddard Health Services administers the flu shot as well.
