Flu season is quickly approaching and the CDC is predicting this years’ virus severity to be high. Goddard Health Center is offering free vaccines tomorrow to students and faculty with an OU ID from 8 to 4:30 p.m.
Medical professionals including Brant Alexander, a Sooner pharmacist, encourage everyone to get the flu vaccine, not just for yourself, but to keep others healthy as well.
“I think that the flu shot is just like any other medicine. The way you need to weigh any medication is the risk versus benefit. The flu vaccine has never been 100%, it does vary every year, it’s overwhelmingly clear from the information I read that there is a minimal risk with the flu shot and the chance of contracting it is not always affective, that is true. But statistically it does keep people out of the hospital a lot more,” said Alexander.
Flu shots at Sooner Pharmacy are $25 or may be free with your insurance.
