Hurricane Michael made landfall today in the Florida panhandle after quickly strengthening to an almost category five storm.
Michael is the strongest hurricane to hit the Florida panhandle in recorded history, with winds reaching up to 155 mph.
Florida Governor, Rick Scott, urged people to evacuate as Michael strengthened, but this morning he posted a message on twitter telling people who have not evacuated to seek refuge immediately.
The National Hurricane Center forecasts up to a foot of rain in some areas of Florida and heavy rain all the way up to the Carolinas, which are still recovering from Hurricane Florence last month.
Along with Florida, Georgia and Alabama have also declared states of emergency.
