Senators came to a 50-48 vote that sent Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Hours after the vote, Kavanaugh was sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts at a private ceremony. Shortly after, Kavanaugh fulfilled his pledge to hire women to serve as law clerks, becoming the first justice to have an all-female staff.
The majority of clerks Kavanaugh hired were women during his 12 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
Kavanaugh said that should be an indicator of his views about women in the workplace.
President Trump will ceremonially swear in Brett Kavanaugh tonight in the East Room of the White House.
