A new hotel groundbreaking today in Oklahoma City is causing a lot of excitement about what the future of downtown might look like.
The Omni Hotel and Resort broke ground today after three years of developing. The 17-story building will have 600 rooms, a rooftop pool and seven new food offerings for downtown along Broadway Avenue.
The Omni is connected to the new convention center and Scissortail Park which are already under construction. These projects are the latest phase in the city’s mission to transform downtown OKC into a luxury destination.
“This is a great city and Omni is going to be a phenomenal hotel here. We’re going to have a lot of new jobs into the city and a lot of places for people to have fun,” says Peter Strebel, President of Omni Hotels and Resorts.
The new hotel is expected to be open in the summer of 2020.
