Even though Hurricane Florence is now a tropical depression, North Carolina is facing an emergency situation. The state’s governor is asking those who have evacuated not to go home now. This is because the storm is currently producing tons of rain, generating a large amount of flooding.
The National Weather Service says the historic river flooding will continue for days across portions of the Carolinas. Due to this, trapped people need rescuing so the death toll will not continue to climb.
And while the storm’s strength was downgraded, its effects will be felt for days to come. According to the latest update, the death toll is at 25 lives. And about 500,000 homes and businesses in North and South Carolina are still without power as a result of the storm.
