A popular new way for students to get around campus may be gone sooner than later. Bird scooters have been in Norman for over a month now, but the city of Norman says they’re causing problems around the city.
The scooters are going on their second month in the Norman area, but their time might be up. The city of Norman is asking the company to remove its scooters from city limits by 10 p.m. tonight, citing that they’re causing problems around the city. Some students, however, are not happy about the ultimatum.
“It’s disappointing that they are trying to remove them because it’s such an easy way for kids to get to campus and get to class on time especially when they are running late” says Scott Wilson.
Norman joins other major cities around the country who have sent the company “cease and desist” letters to remove the scooters from city limits. Bird says they intend to work with the city to keep its scooters in Norman.
