Construction on New Campus Residence Hall Causes Controversy

The university’s effort to keep upper-classmen students on campus continues this semester with the opening of the Cross apartments, but not all their promises have been kept.

A sound all too familiar for Cross apartment residents, construction noise. Cross opened its doors a few weeks ago, it’s phase two of the university’s plan to keep students on campus. However, construction delays have residents questioning when they can expect all the amenities they were promised to be ready.

Cross resident, Sabrina Erdmann, talks about why she is upset with this new complex.

“The amenities that they promised are not finished. The restaurants still aren’t done. We are just a little bit frustrated. Laundry is also an issue, the laundry machines leak.”

Although a specific date has not been announced, cross management says they hope to have everything finished by the end of next month. According to a report, cross has occupancy of about 28 percent.
