Teachers speak about about President Boren’s proposed penny sales tax

President David Boren is creating legislation to combat the teacher shortage in Oklahoma. Late last September, Boren purposed a penny sales tax that would increase teacher salary in Oklahoma. Numbers show low salaries play a role in the amount college students pursuing an education degree. If the proposal passes, the average taxpayer would pay $200 more per year in sales tax. The proposal will try to qualify for the 2016 ballot.
