Ashley Davis, Haley Hughey and Mason Prince are back this week with more Sooner sports after Oklahoma dominated Iowa State in Norman this past weekend, men’s and women’s basketball won in their season opener and many other sports happenings.
Oklahoma walked off Owen Field this past weekend with a 59-16 victory over the Cyclones for their 80th matchup. The Sooners have now won 44 out of the last 46 meetings with Iowa State.
The offense started off on a strong note with the first Sooner possession ending in a touchdown. QB Baker Mayfield, WR Sterling Shepard and FB Dimitri Flowers were all in on the reverse flea flicker, which was a 75 yard run for a touchdown. Oklahoma led in the opening minutes of the first quarter, 7-3.
This was Oklahoma’s third game with 600+ yards which is the first time in 1971.
Both men and women’s basketball started off the season strong, winning their season openers in Norman. Both teams debuted on in top 20 teams in their respective divisions.
Volleyball lost three straight sets to Kansas this past weekend. The team hopes to win the next round.
Mason’s top football pick for the weekend is Jordan Thomas. Thomas has 3 picks for the season, and Mason hopes he will be able to force a Baylor turnover to give the Sooners a leg up.
Haley’s top football pick for the weekend is Samaje Perine. Haley said it is not that Perine has not had a strong season so far, she just hoping he will be able to break his 427 yard NCAA record and against Baylor would be the best time to have that moment.
Senior Center Ty Darlington and Junior Tight End Connor Knight joined the trio as well as the Oklahoma Men’s Lacrosse team in the studio audience.
