Defensive Coordinator Mike Stoops and fellow Sooners spoke throughout the week about the role the defense is going to need to play in order to make a big impact against the Cyclones on Saturday.

Stoops said limiting big plays is going to be key for the defense which they have been able to do in past games.

Cornerback Jordan Thomas said the defense has had great communication during games, and the members of the D-Line are on the same page. Thomas said coverage busts are something to avoid, since the goal is to take care of the job but not playing the entire field.

Safety Steven Parker said eliminating the big play is the goal of the game to keep momentum.

The Sooners host Iowa State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
Oklahoma has won the last 43 out of 45 meeting with the Cyclones. The last Iowa State victory was in 1960 before the Nixon-Kennedy presidential election.

For defensive game tape:

The Oklahoma Sooners trampled the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence to a nearly empty Memorial Stadium.

The Sooners maintained momentum, winning 62-7 after a shut out win on the road against Kansas State in Manhattan.

Charles Tapper had four total tackles during the game, and was named Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
